Our call to action

Retail

Promote and support the Dutch legume! Ensure a wide and attractive supply in stores, including inspiration for preparation, highlighting the convenience, benefits, and Dutch origin of legumes. Become a partner of the #BeanMeal consumer activation week to boost consumption. Encourage food companies to source legumes grown in the Netherlands, and enable them to make future-proof agreements with growers. Leverage the cultivation expertise, data, and supply security of the Dutch Protein Farmers Organization (Producentenorganisatie Eiwitboeren van Nederland), and use their label on packaging, including QR codes that tell the story of the farmers.

Food companies

Actively contribute to the future of Dutch legumes! Choose to source more from Dutch growers, including organic cultivation: as pure beans and as ingredients in plant-based alternatives to animal protein. Ensure future-proof pricing policies by sharing risks, compensating for ecosystem services, and making multi-year agreements. Invest in knowledge and innovation in breeding, product processing, and technology, and involve Dutch farmers as a testing ground or living lab. Tell the story of Dutch legumes - a sustainable, healthy, and affordable choice that strengthens biodiversity and the economy. Collaborate with the Dutch Protein Farmers Organization (Producentenorganisatie Eiwitboeren van Nederland) and use their label on packaging to reinforce this message.

The beandeal A big deal

Beans— or better: legumes— are excellent crops for the soil, nature, farmers, and consumers. They fix nitrogen and improve the soil, are resilient to climate change, and produce minimal CO2 emissions. Additionally, they are incredibly versatile, tasty, and nutritious. Beans grown in the Netherlands are therefore essential for a sustainable and healthy food system that farmers and citizens can rely on now and in the future.

The results are delicious products that contain legumes from Dutch soil. Check them out here!
